Why did Morteza Sheikh decide to become a doctor?
Govind asked Dr. Sheikh at a party of Colonel Dr. Latifi, who was elected as the new head of Lashkar Hospital in Mashhad: “Doctor, why are you bothering yourself so much?” What is the news that you keep going from this court to that court?”
Dr. Sheikh replied, “When we were living in the basement of a rich person, the landlord’s son and I got typhoid.” At the same time, one day a carriage stopped in front of the house and a doctor got out of it. He went to the landlord’s son’s room and examined him. As she was leaving, my mother told her to “examine my son as well.” But the doctor replied: “I don’t do medicine for free!”
It was there that my mother’s eyes filled with tears; A tear that made me understand the pain of the poor and the needy. That’s why I made a pact with my God right there to be a doctor for the needy as long as I’m alive.
Dr. Morteza Sheikh was born in 1286 A.H. in Tehran, but a hospital in Mashhad at Bar Square intersection, South Taheri Street is named after him.
