‼ Rumors indicate that the historical property of Bagh Ferdous located in District 1 of Tehran will be sold as surplus education property in the production plan.

According to the heritage report; On Wednesday, 26 February 1401, Tasnim news agency published a report titled “Sale of Surplus Education Properties, Yes or No?!” He published a list of the surplus property of education that is supposed to be sold in the production plan, among which the name of Ferdous Garden located in District 1 of Tehran is also visible.

This property is one of the historical gardens and national register of Tehran.

Narrative documents say that this garden was built during the time of Mohammad Shah Qajar and its building was his hunting palace. After the death of Nizam al-Dawlah, his son Dost Ali Khan Muir al-Mamalik, the son-in-law of Nasir al-Din Shah, became the owner of the garden. This garden has changed hands many times

But the current part of the building was ordered by Ali Asghar Hekmat, the Minister of Education during the first Pahlavi period in 1316. It was bought and its building was renovated. And it was used as a school. In 1336, Ferdous Garden was divided between the Ministry of Education and the Municipality.

According to the initial follow-up of the heritage, it seems that the current ownership of Ferdous Garden in Tajrish is with the Tehran Municipality and not the Ministry of Education. On the other hand, the area that was announced for the sale of this garden was much less than the actual area of Ferdous Garden, so the possibility that this garden is similar in name to another Ferdous Garden in Region 1 was strengthened.

However, with repeated follow-ups and the presence of the name of Ferdows Garden in the list of excess educational property and its review on the Mouldsazi site, the possibility that this garden is the same historical and nationally registered Ferdows Garden was strengthened.

Also, according to an informed source, in the 1960s, some education and training properties were transferred to other government and public institutions in the form of a trust, while the main ownership is still with education, so there is a possibility that Ferdous Garden is one of these properties. It is possible that Ferdows Garden is in the list of productive properties.

Also, long before the production plan, there were rumors among the local people of Bagh Ferdous that a large investor is going to buy and demolish a large part of the property of Tajrish neighborhood up to Bagh Ferdous in order to build a large shopping center like Iran Mall in Tajrish, and so far some of It was heard that he had bought the surrounding properties, including a garden, opposite Ferdows Garden. Now, by putting these news together, the possibility of selling and being in danger of this garden is felt more than ever.

According to the heritage report; Before the revolution, the Shahpur Tajrish school was located in this historical Qajar garden and was part of the educational property. After the revolution, it was given to the Farabi Cinema Foundation for a while, and now it has been in the hands of the municipality for many years, and the cinema museum is still open there.

The follow-up of the heritage is still ongoing for the truth or falsity of the news of the sale of this magnificent historical building that has been registered in the list of national monuments.
