yesterday in Committee 3 of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development;

What decision was made for the historical context of Shiraz?

According to the heritage report; Informed sources informed that in yesterday’s meeting of Committee 3 of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development regarding the historical fabric of Shiraz, the members emphasized that the interventions inside the fabric should be minimal and the protection requirements should be observed.
On the other hand, Astani has emphasized that we do not want more than the approvals of Article 5.

The resolution was signed by the governorate and municipality, road and urban development, city council and cultural heritage of Fars and Shiraz province on 25 May 1401.

Now this resolution with the same black line known as the Amiri line (Museeb Amiri, then head of the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Research Institute) with amendments must go to the Supreme Council of Architecture and Urban Planning.

But in yesterday’s meeting, these reforms were discussed. including that threshold proposals should be done with minimal interventions in context. To be defined for the paths within the context of the urban restoration plan. And the needs of thresholds should be designed and placed in existing and barren degraded lands.

According to the heritage report; During the efforts of those concerned to preserve the historical context of Shiraz, a black line was suddenly proposed by the Cultural Heritage Research Institute for a 57-hectare plan on the maps of the historical context, which later became known as the Amiri Line.

A part of the historical fabric of Shiraz falls under that black line. (above Bin-ul-Haramein and below the black line) it was said that the distance between this black line and the Bin-ul-Haramein complex should be considered for the proper urban design of the pedestrian square by taking into account physical interventions such as restoration, protection, renovation and reconstruction, renewal and change of function.

In fact, everyone was worried that urban design would mean the destruction of the entire texture of this area, and in fact, a few valuable seeds or records of the texture would be preserved and the rest would be destroyed.

It was emphasized yesterday that if an urban design is to be carried out below this line, it should be done with minimum interventions and compliance with the registration requirements of the context, and part of the needs of the thresholds such as Dar al-Shefa, Dar al Diyafa, educational centers and pilgrimage centers can be predicted by using the capacity of valuable buildings in the context. but without destruction. And the bigger needs should be built in the places that were destroyed before and no new destruction should be done.

Of course, it is said that in the engineer’s plan “Declaration of Environment Plan” titled “Detailed-Executive Plan of Shahcharagh Shrine and Peripheral Context” which was reviewed yesterday in Committee 3, at least 14-15 residential buildings which are not valuable are proposed to be implemented in front of the project. The threshold of Sayyid Al-Din (AS) should be destroyed.

⁉ according to the heritage report; Now, the biggest concern is whether the project implementers will proceed within the framework of the approved plans and protection requirements.

On the other hand, the representative of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage has announced in this meeting that the entire historical fabric of Shiraz is a product of the national register, and it is no longer the case that it is only said that a few listed and valuable buildings should be protected in this area, the entire fabric in this area must be protected. and in the next steps, this valuable texture will be registered globally.

It seems that the supporters of the 57-hectare project have now adjusted their opinion about a large square between the two shrines of Seyyed Al-Din (AS) and Shahcheragh (AS), but they are still looking for a direct connection route, as they were reminded in yesterday’s meetings that in the approvals The Supreme Council of Architecture and Urban Planning stated that these two shrines are not aligned and cannot be directly connected and will be accompanied by many destructions, so the plan should be done with minimum interventions and maximum protection.
