Zarif is right, this is the people’s choice.
Hassan Jafari
Zarif recently said, “This is the way we are going, it is the choice of our people.” In those days, it struck us that no, this is the choice of the rulers, not the body of the people. That day we did not understand what he meant. Although he was a man of politics, he had told a cultural truth, but because we called it political, we did not understand it.
Zarif is right, in our culture and understanding of religion, war is holy and the one who goes to the field is holy. But for us, dialogue and tolerance are not sacred, and naturally, a man who is a dialogue is not sacred.
From religion, we know Hussain bin Ali (a.s.) going to the square, and it is this square at noon on the 10th day of Muharram that brings us together, from any group and rank. Almost all the people of Iran, no matter what they disagree about, they have less disagreements about Hussain (A.S.). That is, although we have different consciousnesses, our emotions are the same. It is as if the battle in the battlefield is a symbol of our religion and spirituality and the cause of our unity, unaware of the fact that out of the twelve infallible imams, only Imam Hussain (a.s.) went to the field and the other eleven imams opened the way to Islam with tolerance and dialogue. .
We don’t even know that Husayn bin Ali (a.s.) had taken the same policy of cultural dialogue for twenty years, during the era of Muawiyah, and during this twenty-year period, he was officially the Shiite imam for the second ten years. That is, Hussain bin Ali (AS) was the imam of the Shiites for ten years, but he did not step in any field.
We don’t even know that even in the incident of Karbala, until the last moment, Hossein bin Ali (AS) suggested that I came at the invitation of the people of Kufa, and if they don’t want me, I am ready to return to my hometown.
We do not even know that Imam Hussain (AS) did not go to the square at all, but was surrounded and they attacked him and he defended himself.
We don’t even know that Imam Hussain (a.s.), in order not to cause the least unwanted harm to others, bent his path so that, God forbid, attacks and clashes with him would not be near the city or countryside, so that the people would fall into the lap of an unwanted war.
When our understanding of Shia is limited only to the 10th day of Muharram, that is, only the killing pit, and we do not read the 250 years of narrative of the Shia Imamate, which is a dialogue-based narrative, and do not know what happened, then the holy matter is just a battlefield for us. is and nothing else.
The fact that Zarif is apologizing to the world and Adam today is not only a political issue. The problem is that in our culture, he is not a saint, but he who goes to the field is a saint. Our understanding of religion is that whoever goes to the square is sacred, and if he is criticized or spoken to, the sacred matter is endangered.
Does anyone dare to criticize the holy man of Maidan? Zarif only said that I have a different point of view with the holy man of Maidan, and that’s what we saw. He is right, our people chose this path themselves, even though they do not know what the results of this path are and cannot find the root of what is happening to us in today’s world in the unbalanced and hero-centered understanding of religion.
